Margaret “Peg” Savo – Obituary

Margaret “Peg” Savo of Newton Twp., Clarks Summit, died Saturday. She was the wife of the late Frank L. Savo Jr., who died Jan. 4, 2007.Born and raised in Throop, daughter of the late Ann Sersen Kraynak and Joseph Kraynak Jr., she was a resident of Newton Twp. for more than 55 years.

A graduate of Throop High School and Powel School of Business, she also attended the University of Bridgeport, Marywood College and Penn State. Over the years, she served as secretary to the vice president of General Electric, Bridgeport, Conn., was an associate broker with Hinerfeld Realty (for more than 42 years), and a member of the Greater Scranton Board of Realtors, National Association of Realtors and the Pennsylvania Board of Realtors. She was a member of the Million Dollar Club, received the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors PAR Excellence Award, was inducted into the Diamond Club of Prudential, and was also a member of the Pennsylvania Board of Appraisers. She served on the Newton Planning Commission for 12 years, was a member of the Elks Club, the Scranton Professional Business Association, Our Lady of the Snows Women’s Society, Allied Auxiliary Club, Newton Women’s Auxiliary Fire Department, a life member of the Pa. Association for the Blind, and past president of the Waverly Community Club.

She brought much joy to her family and friends through the years with her gifts for cooking and warm hospitality, and helped to make many special and fun holiday memories for young and old.

Surviving are a son, Frank J. Savo, Springville; nephew, Vinnie Savo, Wisconsin; nieces, Linda Helene Burns and husband, Joseph Davey, Throop; and Bonnie Janus and husband, Walter, Clarks Summit; several nieces and nephews, including a great-great-great-niece.

She was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Burns and Ann Dolan.

The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Church of St. Benedict, Newton-Ransom Boulevard, Clarks Summit. Friends and relatives attending the funeral, please go directly to church Wednesday morning. Interment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Tuesday, 4 to 6 p.m., at the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop.
