 The mission of the NEPA-CIL is to improve and enhance the independent living options for people with disabilities. The client understood to be truly sustainable; the building would have to use less energy to operate (i.e. heating, cooling, lighting, power and water).

Features:

Building enclosure:

  1. Super tight building enclosure with advanced air sealing techniques and detailing
  2. Window are limited to 8% of building enclosure.
  3. Spry foam insulation and window;/door gap sealing.
  4. High performance fiberglass framed windows with high visible light transmission.

Heating Cooling and Ventilating:

  1. Dedicated fresh air system with heat exchanger
  2. Mitsubishi City Multi advanced heating and cooling systems for energy efficiency control.
  3. High efficiency natural gas fired hot water radiant slab.

Lighting:

  1. Maximized natural day lighting with high perimeter windows and central sky light. White rubber roofing to reflect natural light into skylight/monitor.
  2. High output florescent light fixtures with automatic dimming when sufficient natural light is present.
