The owners of the Hilton Scranton & Conference Center have placed the 175-room hotel on the market.
The building is unpriced, according to the listing by Hospitality Real Estate Counselors, a Denver-based brokerage specializing in lodging.
Glenn Gistis of Boston-based Linchris Hotel Corp., owner of the Hilton Scranton, declined comment on the listing or even confirming the status of the building.
“Yeah, I’m not going to be able to comment on anything to do with that property,” Mr. Gistis said.
Nevertheless, the company, which purchased the property and business in 2010 for $13 million and invested a reported $3 million into it, indicated as far back as 2013 it would consider selling the property, consistent with its strategy of sale-and-acquisition.
The owners are probably looking for offers, said John Cognetti, of Scranton-based Hinerfeld Commercial Realty, and they may or may not sell.
The lodging market has picked up significantly, he said, buoyed by an improving economy and low gas prices. In 2014, he said lodging deals jumped more than 20 percent.
“The overall saleability of properties like this is much better than it has been,” Mr. Cognetti said of the full-service downtown hotel. “The market is strong.”
