Penn’s Northeast, a regional economic development marketing collaborative, is seeking a President who will serve as the Chief Executive and will be responsible to develop and execute an annual program of work that results in the marketing/branding of the region, the creation and retention of jobs and the investment of capital through economic development projects in northeastern Pennsylvania. The future President, who will report to the Board of Directors, will bring with him/her a strong record of execution and exceeding goals, preferably in the processes of corporate site selection and in commercial real estate development. He/she will have strong sales, marketing, finance and analytical skills, with the ability to self-educate, evaluate and assess new opportunities. This new leader will have exceptional relationship-building skills enabling him/her to become part of the fabric of our region by establishing partnerships with members, key regional partners and employers built on a foundation of strong communication, decisiveness, personal integrity, work ethic, passion and execution. A 24/7 entrepreneurial mindset will enable the new President to be flexible and resourceful, to grasp existing business and community challenges and turn them into opportunities that will enable the successful evolution of the organization and the community. It will be expected the President will be able to travel without hesitation for presentations, trade shows and special events.
Experience and Qualifications
- President or equivalent experience: 10+ years’ successful experience as a President and/or senior management experience within a private company, economic development organization, and/or similar non-profit organization. This experience should demonstrate an ability to create and maintain strong financial stability.
- Sales and Marketing: Must have successful experience in developing business opportunities, specifically in developing qualified leads and gaining prospect trust, which results in a mutually agreeable business relationship. A solid understanding in how to properly utilize various marketing strategies to communicate the mission of an organization is vital.
- Economic Development and Real Estate: Must have experience in real estate and working with brokers and developers regarding the development of industrial/commercial land and mixed-use projects.
- Fund Raising: Raised public and private funding, or significantly participated in a similar process in order to provide for the successful growth of an organization.
- Education: BS/BA degree or higher in Business, Marketing, Economic Development or related discipline. Additional industrial specific professional development and continuing education preferred.
